The Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) is an independent, non-profit and policy-oriented research and training institute. ELIAMEP’s mission is to provide a forum for public debate on issues of European integration and international relations and to conduct scientific research that contributes to a better informed and documented knowledge of the European and international environment.
Dia Anagnostou (Ph.D Political Science, Cornell University, 1999) is Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics at the Department of Public Administration of Panteion University in Athens, and Senior Research Fellow at ELIEEP-ELIAMEP in Athens (from September 2004 until present). Currently, she is Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Law Department of the EUI (2010-2012). She has been coordinator of and partner in a number of large research projects funded by the European Commission 6th and 7th Framework Programmes on the topics of European integration, human rights, minorities, as well as politics and the media. While her original research interests were in the fields of comparative politics of Southeast Europe and European integration, they subsequently extended to the study of human rights, anti-discrimination and minorities and the role of courts from a socio-legal studies perspective. Her articles have appeared on West European Politics, Southeast European Politics, International Journal of Human Rights, and European Public Law, among others. Her recent publications also include: The European Court of Human Rights and the Rights of Marginalised Individuals and Minorities in National Context (Martinus Nijhoff Publishers, 2010, co-editor and co-author with E. Psychogiopoulou; editor and co-author of the book Domesticating the European Court of Human Rights is in press with Edinburgh University Press; and Rights in Pursuit of Social Change: Legal Mobilisation in the Multi-Level European System (co-editor with Monica Claes, forthcoming from Hart Publishers, 2013). Dia is currently working on a book manuscript on transnational civil society and the European Court of Human Rights.
Evangelia Psychogiopoulou is a lawyer and research fellow at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) in Greece. A graduate from the Faculty of Law of the Kapodistrian University of Athens, she holds a DEA in EU law from Paris I University, a master of research degree in law from the European University Institute (Florence, Italy), and a PhD in Law from the same university. Her main areas of research are EU cultural and media policies and human rights protection. She has held research and management positions at the Academy of European Law (Florence, Italy), the Directorate General Education and Culture of the European Commission and UNESCO. Her articles have appeared in European Foreign Affairs Review, European Law Journal, European Law Review, Legal Issues of Economic Integration, European State Aid Law Quarterly and European Human Rights Cases. Her recent publications include: The Integration of Cultural Considerations in EU Law and Policies (2008), The European Court of Human Rights and the Rights of Marginalised Individuals and Minorities in National Context (2010, ed.) and Understanding Media Policies: A European Perspective (2012, ed.).
